(KMOV) - Inside The Federal Bank workers are learning about security and safety, not of money, but each other.
Each year 250 thousand people die from sudden cardiac arrest. That's one heart stopping almost every two minutes and in these cases CPR just isn't enough.
Armed with defibrillators, workers are learning how to jump-start a heart. An estimated 50 thousand people could be saved each year if friends and family had access to this technology.
Defibrillators now hang at two locations in The Federal Bank.
The machine gives step-by-step instructions on how to shock a heart back into beating but handling a defibrillator in a crisis is different than following directions. Federal Bank workers are practicing what they hope they'll never need to use.
To protect yourself while helping someone else you can buy emergency supplies, such as a key kit, which contains gloves, a breathing barrier, a refrigerator flip guide and first aid kits.
