Several volunteers from the West County area were honored recently by the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter during a volunteer awards picnic at Grant's Farm.
Bob Peters, chair of volunteers for the St. Louis chapter, thanked the volunteers for the time, dedication, energy and enthusiasm they have given to the Red Cross.
"Volunteers are the heart of the Red Cross," Peters said. "Their variety of backgrounds and talents are united as they help people throughout the community prepare for, prevent and respond to emergencies and disasters. Thanks to the time and talent of volunteers, lives are saved every day in our community."
