The Community Partnership at Taylor-Morley Homes has donated $5,000 to the St. Louis Area Chapter of the American Red Cross in support of the organization’s Access to Aquatics program. Access to Aquatics serves underprivileged and disabled children throughout the St. Louis region through Learn-to-Swim programs and other aquatics training activities.
“The American Red Cross appreciates the support of Taylor-Morley Homes and their commitment to provide free programming for underserved children in our community,” said Joyce Bathke, Director of Health and Safety for the St. Louis Area Chapter. “Because of programs like Access to Aquatics, the Red Cross was able to train more than 37,000 people throughout the St. Louis area in water safety programs last year.”
Access to Aquatics provides healthy and productive activities for children in communities that offer limited enrichment for youth, increases self-esteem among children by fostering personal achievement, provides Learn-to-Swim lessons to children who are unable to afford the cost, provides classes that allow children with disabilities to advance in fitness, confidence and social interaction, increases knowledge of water safety through education, and trains lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors to serve at community aquatic facilities. Taylor-Morley Homes’ support of the program allows the Red Cross to provide the services at no cost to participants.
“The Red Cross values the partnership with Taylor-Morley Homes to improve the quality of life for all citizens by providing valuable aquatics training to prepare individuals for emergency situations,” said Joseph C. White, CEO of the St. Louis Area Chapter. “Together, we can save a life.”
