Around 80 people listened to a seminar on Pandemic Preparedness at Chapter Headquarters.

This morning dozens of people from all over the St. Louis metro came to the Red Cross to learn about preparing for a pandemic flu.

/pænˈdɛm ɪk/ [pan-dem-ik]

–adjective
1.
(of a disease) prevalent throughout an entire country, continent, or the whole world; epidemic over a large area.
2.
general; universal: pandemic fear of atomic war.
–noun
3.
a pandemic disease.

Recent headlines have shown that the U.S. is not completely prepared if a pandemic illness was to hit here. Even President Obama mentioned pandemic preparedness in his address to Congress last night. So we’re glad that so many folks in St. Louis are taking the initiative to learn more about ways to prepare!

Check out PandemicPrep.org for good information about the efforts to prepare in Missouri and Illinois.
