Welcome to Tuesday Trivia with Lindsey, just one of many exciting features during our month of blogging. I am your host, Lindsey, and here is your trivia question for the day:
Yesterday, Hollywood film director Jason Reitman (Juno) and his crew began production on Up in the Air, the story of a man trying to rack up a million frequent flier miles. The production, starring George Clooney and (reportedly) Jason Bateman, is filming at various locations across the St. Louis area, including Lambert Airport, the GenAmerica Building, and the Mansion House Apartments. St. Louis remains on high alert in an attempt to be part of a Clooney sighting.
If someone sees George Clooney and faints, what are the proper First Aid procedures?
Keeping in mind that in our hypothetical situation, George did not faint and the onlooker was the victim… here is the solution (However, if George fainted I believe the below comments might be on to something ).
Mary Beth Ohlms, Manager of Health and Safety at the St. Louis Area Chapter, provides today’s “proper First Aid” answer:
If someone spots George Clooney and faints, “check the scene for safety. It could be noxious poisonous gas and not George Clooney at all that caused the victim to faint.” If the scene is safe, and the victim fainted because of Mr. Clooney alone, check the victim- “Tap them, shout, call their name, and ask if they are okay in order to solicit a response. If there is no response they are in fact unconscious. At this point, immediately call 911 as the situation has elevated to a life threatening emergency.” Hopefully, someone in the area is Red Cross trained and can continue the First Aid response until paramedics arrive.
“Look, listen, and feel for signs of life. If they are not breathing, prepare the victim, perform 2 rescue breaths and initiate CPR until responders arrive on scene.”
“The most important thing to remember is not to go beyond your scope of training.” Mary Beth and I both agreed that unless you are properly trained, you shouldn’t try what you have seen on shows like ER. Even though George has had many years of experience performing CPR on television, neither he nor his faithful viewers really know what to do unless they have taken CPR classes and are currently certified. So by being Red Cross certified you could not only impress George, but you could save a life.
Last, but certainly not least, once the victim has been properly cared for, please contact me with George Clooney’s whereabouts. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
And that is how you properly perform First Aid on a victim who has fainted after a George Clooney run-in.
Thanks to Mary Beth Ohlms for providing today’s correct response!
That does it for today! Thanks for playing! Don’t forget to check back next Tuesday for another exciting rendition of Tuesday Trivia with Lindsey.

Re: Tuesday Trivia with Lindsey
I believe the ladies above misread the post. if someone else faints, you or Mr. Clooney's entourage should immediately check, call, and care for the individual if need be. Mind out of the gutter ladies! LOL
