I have been a Red Cross volunteer for seven years now, and let me tell you that every day brings a new experience. Some days I am a Mental Health Instructor, teaching other volunteers how to provide emotional support and care to individuals and families affected by disasters. Other days, I go to health fairs and educate adults on preparing for emergencies. No matter what I’m doing, I enjoy every experience because of the staff and volunteers working beside me.

On July 26, I spent my Saturday morning at the St. Louis County Community Heroes Day held at the South County Health Center. During the event, St. Louis County residents donated blood, prepared for emergencies (I taught the class!) and 27 individuals received CPR certification. All of these people are now ready to save a life because they got trained. How amazing is that!

Well, I should make my way out the door and on to my next health fair. Maybe I will see you there!
