Chances are if you aren’t already using Twitter – you’ve probably heard of it. The micro-blogging service seems to be everywhere these days and has exploded in popularity in the last year.  Now even Google is in talks to buy Twitter. How’s that for a mega-merger?

Here at the St. Louis Area Chapter, I’ve been trying my hand at “tweeting” for a few months. I think I am hooked. I love the fact that it is one giant, world-wide chatroom, but you can be as specific as you want. While I usually tweet about Red Cross topics like being ready for a disaster or learning CPR, I love that I can also “follow” the tweets of people I wouldn’t normally have any interaction with. For example, Senator Claire McCaskill will let her followers know about what bill she is debating, as well as what she had for lunch. There is even a twitter profile dedicated to sending out real-time updates about where George Clooney was spotted while filming a movie around St. Louis.

Our friends at the Greater Ozarks Chapter in Springfield, MO have decided to use their twitter skills to put together a neat experiment. It’s tonight, but you can join in on the fun online. Here’s a clip from last night’s 10pm newscast in Springfield:

So check out Tweepared. And check out our twitter feed at twitter.com/stlredcross!

Re: Katie Nagus - Get Tweepared!
