Taylor Swift

I love music. It doesn’t matter what it is; if it has rhythm, I love it. Give me rock or pop, classical or commercial jingles. I just love music. And as of recent, I seem to have uncovered an extra soft spot for country. Sometimes I think it’s because of the story telling, and other times I’m pretty sure it’s the tight pants and cowboy hats. But as if those weren’t motive enough, country music has given me yet another reason to be a fan.
This year, as part of the 2009 C ountry Music Television (CMT) Music Awards on June 17, CMT will be donating $2,500 to the winner of each category's charity of choice. Country music has heart!
Lucky for us, country superstar Taylor Swift has a long running history with the Red Cross…well… as long of a history as you can have for a 19-year-old. Just last summer Taylor donated $100,000 to the Red Cross to aid Iowa flood relief. This summer, Taylor has decided to keep her Red Cross connection alive by selecting it as her charity of choice at the CMT Music Awards. Since Taylor is nominated for multiple awards, the Red Cross will receive $2500 for each category that she wins. She’s even nominated for video of the year with “Love Story.” Way to go Taylor!
The awards show honors country music’s top videos as voted on by CMT fans. So if you support country music, the Red Cross, or making a difference, check out CMT.com, register, and vote for your favorite country music videos. But act swiftly (yes, pun intended), voting ends May 19. Then tune in to watch the CMT awards on June 17, to see how Taylor does. Big thanks to CMT and country music for supporting such worthy charities, and good luck to Taylor Swift!
