There’s no doubt about it, St. Louis is already home to one entire team of baseball All-Stars. Not to mention we’re about to be visited by even more when Busch Stadium plays host to the 2009 Major League Baseball All-Star game on July 14 th.
But that’s on the field.
Since all of us can’t be big league sluggers (literally), People Magazine and MLB have teamed up for “ All-Stars Among Us,” a national campaign that recognizes individuals who go above and beyond to serve the community in their hometowns (cough cough, Red Cross Volunteers and Lifesavers, cough).
If you know a hometown hero (whether it be mom, dad, friend, neighbor, or maybe even yourself) log onto the All-Stars Among Us Website, and nominate your all-star today. Together MLB and People will choose 30 everyday all-stars (one representing every major league team) who will attend and be honored at this year’s All-Star game, right here in St. Louis. One lucky winner will even be featured in People Magazine! How cool would it be to have one of our very own Red Crossers representing the St. Louis Cardinals as a hometown all-star in our very own hometown?!?! It doesn’t get much better than that.
So get out of your dugout, go online and nominate your all-star today. The entry deadline is May 22 nd and voting runs June 8-24 th.
Good luck!
Lindsey Weber is the Marketing/Communitcation Intern for the St. Louis Area Chapter.
