Despite the nearly non-stop All-Star Game coverage on local news, I’ve noticed a disturbing trend lately: more stories about people drowning. Just take a look at some of the headlines from the last several days:

 

 

 

 

 

At least the last story has a happy ending, but these are a sobering reminder of the importance of being careful in and around the water. A recent Red Cross survey found 1 in 2 people had experienced a near drowning in their lifetime! Check out some water safety tips, and if you know a lifeguard – thank him/her for being ready to save a life!
