Trivia time! What do the BeeGees, Matt Lauer, and the Red Cross have in common? Give up? For one man these things were a matter of life and death.
A while back, the Red Cross demonstrated Compression-Only CPR with Matt Lauer in a Today Show segment. Months later, a Florida man was driving to a friend’s house when he witnessed a stranger collapse on the street. While untrained in CPR, the man remembered the episode of the Today show and was able to perform Compression-Only CPR on the stranger to save his life.
Check out the video below for the whole story.
Compression-Only CPR involves giving continuous chest compressions to adults or adolescents (at the rate of 100 compressions per minute, or roughly the beat of “Stayin’ Alive” by the BeeGees).
In a life-threatening emergency, it’s always better to do something that nothing at all. So while the Red Cross recommends everyone still gets trained in full CPR, Compression-Only CPR is a great option because it enables untrained bystanders to react and respond when someone collapses. It only takes a few minutes to learn, it’s easy to remember, and it can help save a life.
For more information on Compression-Only CPR, or to purchase the informational DVD, check out the Red Cross store.

Fine information, many thanks to the author. It is puzzling to me now, but in general, the usefulness and significance is overwhelming. Very much thanks again and good luck!
