On Wednesday, December 2nd we at Metro High School held our 5th blood drive. This blood drive was a huge success. We had a goal of 23 units and exceeded that goal by collecting 27 units of blood. Since each donation saves 3 lives, we are going to be able to potentially save 81 lives. WOW!
YouthCorps has been organizing blood drives at Metro for the past two years and this will be our third year. We have established a tradition of doing two blood drives each school year, one in the Winter and one in the Spring. We feel that this is especially important now with the current shortage in the blood supply. We encourage other YouthCorps groups to try blood drives at their respective schools. We’re really looking forward to and already thinking about our next blood drive in the Spring.
