Red Cross Staff and Volunteers joined in on the celebration to salute our veterans.
|
Veterans have done so much for our country yet, for some reason, often seem forgotten. This past Sunday was a wonderful way of showing some of the veterans in the Missouri area, they are not forgotten. They were honored with a concert from the Temptations Review at the Fabulous Fox Theater. The show was wonderful, full of songs and those classic Temptations’ dance moves which had the veterans moving and shaking throughout the day.
When the first song came on I have never seen a group of people more excited. I was amongst all those who were dancing and singing along with all those classic songs. When one particular song started I began to sing and a man turned to me and said “you weren’t even born when this song came out” to which I replied “yes, but it doesn’t mean I don’t love it”. I asked a few of the veterans if they were enjoying the show and they had a hard time containing their joy. They seemed to be so thankful that they were able to go to a concert which was dedicated to them specifically.
Along with the concert various companies were there to offer gifts to the veterans, including a photo booth, which proved to be very entertaining for a lot of the veterans. They seemed to enjoy getting free photos to remember the day with. There was also a raffle in which they could have won a variety of different prizes. With complimentary soft drinks and popcorn, gifts, the Temptations Review live and recognition for what they have done for this country, the veterans seemed to enjoy every minute of the day. Thanks to all of those who were hard at work to getting everything put together and running everything as smoothly as they could.
