Today is Tuesday March 9th and that means it’s time for trivia! As always, I will be posting your Red Cross-inspired trivia question this morning, giving you time to answer throughout the day, before posting the correct answer later on this afternoon. So let’s get started! Welcome to Tuesday Trivia with Lindsey!! I am your host, Lindsey, and here is your trivia question for the day…

On Sunday night, The Hurt Locker became the runaway-and surprise- success of the 82nd annual Academy Awards taking home a total of 6 Oscars, including one for “Best Picture.” The film, a “riveting, suspenseful portrait of the courage under fire of the military’s unrecognized heroes: the technicians of a bomb squad who volunteer to challenge the odds and save lives doing one of the world’s most dangerous jobs” (SOURCE: thehurtlocker-movie.com/), also took home Oscars for “Best Original Screenplay” and “Best Director.”

Which 2007 surprise success film, nominated for both “Best Picture” and “Best Original Screenplay,” prominently featured a Red Cross blood donation poster during a hospital scene?

And the Oscar goes to…I mean…the answer is… Little Miss Sunshine!

Back in 2007, the film was nominated for 4 Oscars including “Best Picture.” Although The Departed snagged top honors that year, Sunshine did come home with “Best Original Screenplay” and “Best Supporting Actor” for Alan Arkin.

“Little Miss Sunshine tells the story of the Hoovers, one of the most endearingly fractured families ever seen on motion picture screens. Together, the motley six-member family treks from Albuquerque to the Little Miss Sunshine pageant in Redondo Beach, California, to fulfill the deepest wish of 7-year-old Olive, an ordinary little girl with big dreams. Along the way the family must deal with crushed dreams, heartbreaks, and a broken-down VW bus, leading up to the surreal Little Miss Sunshine competition itself. On their travels through this bizarrely funny landscape, the Hoovers learn to trust and support each other along the path of life, no matter what the challenge.” (SOURCE: Fox Searchlight)

During their journey, the Hoovers stop off at a hospital to take care of some business (no spoilers here). In the hospital, a Red Cross "Please Give Blood” poster hangs on the waiting room wall and is visible for around 30 seconds. You can’t miss it. They probably should have won the Oscar for best set design, but I suppose my opinion is a little biased.

That’s it for today’s Tuesday Trivia with Lindsey. Be sure to join me next week- same time, same place!

Lindsey
