Staff Sergeant James Roger Ide, 32, of Festus, died on August 29 in Hyderabad, Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Staff SGT Ide was a 1997 Desoto High School graduate and was in the military 13 years. He served two tours in Iraq before Afghanistan and one tour in Korea. He was stationed in Germany and was a Certified Dog Handler that trained bomb sniffing dogs and their handlers.
To honor SSGT James Ide and to show support to his family during this difficult time, the American Red Cross will line the entrance of Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery while his family and friends enter to attend his service.
We are asking that any volunteers, family and friends who would like to attend and pay respects gather at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Saturday, September 11th, beginning at 11:30 a.m., but no later than 12:00 p.m. We will be lining the road to show our support and at the same time not be intrusive to the family during their time of grief.
The address to the Cemetery is 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, MO 63125. From St. Louis you would take 270 south, 270 becomes 255 east, take exit #2 at Telegraph Road. Make a left at Telegraph Road and travel north and turn right onto Sheridan Road. The cemetery is on your right.
Please wear a Red Cross shirt or vest. If you do not have one, please wear a solid red shirt if possible. Please keep in mind that, if there is a chance of rain, bring an umbrella or rain jacket. Please refrain from bringing signs or banners of any kind. Small American flags are permitted.
