I'm a fellow St. Louisan who is currently volunteering in Waverly, Iowa in the wake of the worst flooding I have ever seen. The Red Cross is here in Waverly and in 30 other cities and towns across the country helping people get back on their feet. We're providing hot meals, shelter, clothing, medicine, emotional and physical health services - all at no charge to those in need. And we'll be here until every last need is met.
These services are made possible thanks to people like you who donate to the Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund. Right now this fund is nearly empty. We need your help. We know that the economic downturn has left many of us with little to spare for charitable giving. Even under these circumstances, the American people have always helped disaster victims when they need it most. Take it from me, I'm here on the frontlines and I have seen numerous families who have lost everything. Your help is needed. If you can, please donate to the Red Cross.
Don is a Red Cross volunteer living in Fairview Heights, IL. To find out how you can help with flood relief efforts, call 314.516.2800 or click here.

Re: Volunteer Update - Don Barkley - Waverly, Iowa
Dear Don, My name is Maureen Mehmen. I am a Disaster Services branch manager for the Hawkeye Chapter in Waterloo. I just want to thank you for coming to help us. My home is 12 miles north of Waverly and is currently gutted with a collapsed basement. I also want to thank Janeen Woodyard and Mike Harmon for coming too. I have worked with Mike & Janeen and they are both great people. Here in Northeast Iowa we are well on our way to recovery. Just wanted all of you at the St. Louis chapter to know that we very much appreciate all of your efforts. THANK YOU!
