So when my Rams and Bradford go long and connect with Amendola for a game-winning touchdown, or kicker Josh Brown makes an impeccable 60 yard field goal, I’m not gonna lie – I’m inclined to consider their actions lifesaving... for me at least.
So you can imagine how
super impressed I was when I heard about NFL star and Super Bowl Champ
Jeremy Shockey and his actual lifesaving moment.
You can read the full story here on Fox Sports, but apparently the tight end was having lunch in the Carolina Panther team cafeteria when teammate and fellow tight end Ben Hartsock began choking on a piece of pork tenderloin. He tried clearing his throat and drinking water, but he quickly realized the situation was worsening. Another player stepped in and attempted abdominal thrusts, but it wasn’t working.
That’s when Shockey realized what was going on. He stepped in and gave Hartsock a solid back blow – it’s not clear if the back blow was enough or Shockey also he had to turn to abdominal thrusts - but it worked! Talk about lifesaving plays! And he didn’t even need a Hail Mary pass:)
So props to Jeremy Shockey for knowing what to do in a lifesaving situation! For the rest of us, this story just serves as another reminder that these kind of things can happen anytime, anywhere and most importantly to anyone!
