Did you see those cool furrowed brow “
Angry Cards” shirts during the World Series? Well, I missed them too, but I’m going to get one!
The Angry Cards story is just as much a lightning fast climb as the
Cardinals' 2011 year. Who are these Angry Cards you ask? A supporter of the American Red Cross, of course!
Austin De Sain, The Angry Cards merchandise maker (who has migrated to being very happy) chose the American Red Cross as one of the organizations to receive a financial gift from the sale of Angry Cards merchandise. How much you ask? Well enough to provide comfort kits and blankets to 50 individuals who are not staying in their home because of a house fire. The most common disaster the American Red Cross responds to is the seemingly small house fire that causes a family (or several families) to be homeless for at least a little while. For those affected, their first steps of recovery begin with a few simple items from the Red Cross - a toothbrush, some soap, and a blanket – and it can happen thanks to a very generous community.
So why did Austin and Angry Cards chose the Red Cross? We'll let him answer that one.
Red Cross has a special place in my heart. These blankets and emergency kits sound like the perfect thing that I wanted to contribute to. My mom suffered a house fire in Feb. of 2009, and I know firsthand what it's like to be without any possessions. What you all do as an organization is amazing, and I want to fully support it in any way that I can. I hope this small donation will prove helpful in the coming months. Thanks!
So today, we’re a very happy and thankful Red Cross because of Angry Cards! On behalf of the families you have supported, thank you.
As I said, I am ordering up a shirt or two at
www.stlangrycards.com and helping our community out a bit. But the Angry Cards are not for me; they will be gifts. See, I’m a Texas Rangers fan, having grown up in that neighborhood - I can’t help it. For you true St. Louis fans
(*editor’s note: which is almost everyone besides Dale) think of it this way - as the Cardinals won, the Angry Cards came out, and the community won! So, I would not have guessed I would ever say this…………er……..ahem……….I am happy the Cardinals had a successful season.
Thank you Angry Cards!!
