So join us at our office blood drive on Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 between 8:30am-12:30pm. The Red Cross office is located at 10195 Corporate Square Dr. St. Louis MO 63132.
If you are considering donating here are some tips/requirements:
- Maintain a healthy iron level in your diet by eating iron rich foods, such as spinach, red meat, fish, poultry, beans, iron-fortified cereals and raisins.
- Get a good night's sleep.
- Drink an extra 16 oz. of water and fluids before the donation.
- Eat a healthy meal before your donation. Avoid fatty foods, such as hamburgers, fries or ice cream before donating. Tests for infections done on all donated blood can be affected by fats that appear in your blood for several hours after eating fatty foods.
- Remember to bring your donor card, driver's license or two other forms of ID.
- Be healthy- this means that you feel well and can perform normal activities. If you have a chronic condition such as diabetes, healthy also means that you are being treated and the condition is under control.
- Donors must be at least 17 years old in most states, or 16 years old with parental consent if allowed by state law – see more information for 16-year old donors »
- Weigh at least 110 lbs. Additional weight requirements apply for donors 18 years old and younger and all high school donors.
If you have further questions on eligibility of donating blood, please contact the American Red Cross at www.redcrossblood.org or call 1.800.RED.CROSS (1.800.733.27677)
Happy New Year, and I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday January 11th, 2012!
Sincerely,
Marie
