Their story made headlines nearly three years ago, but it’s still a topic that amazes anyone who hears it for the first time. What are the chances – a woman having a heart attack in her car – would nearly hit another driver, who happened to be an AED salesman?
There are three good Samaritans who stopped to help save Carolyn Holt’s life that day on Mid Rivers Drive. One of them broke the back window of Carolyn's car to help pull her out. The other was a nurse, who started First Aid and CPR. But Steve Earl happened to have a crucial piece of life-saving equipment with him: an AED. And while he had never used it in a live situation before, he knew exactly what to do.
The Red Cross honored Steve Earl, F.J. Runyon and Lori Akers with the Lifesaver Awards back in August on 2006. But it’s always great to hear their story again.
