What: Nationwide, 22.4 million U.S. households are involved in caring for an elderly relative. In Missouri, the 65 and older population is projected to grow nearly 50% by 2020, totaling over one million people. Statistics like this show that the number of St. Louis families caring for an aging loved one will steadily increase year after year.
The Red Cross along with community leaders, friends and colleagues celebrates the grand opening of the fourth Red Cross Adult Care & Enrichment Center. The new center is designed to provide safe daytime care to aging and disabled adults in communities in Mid-County. The Red Cross Adult Care & Enrichment Center is a partnership with the The Village Church of UMC, where the center is located. Norman Seay, a well-known local professional, will keynote at the event. His mother attends both the Vinita Park and South City Red Cross Adult Care and Enrichment Centers throughout the week.
