ST. CHARLES (December 2, 2002) – American Red Cross disaster volunteers are providing assistance to the victim of a house fire in New Melle Lake Estates in New Melle, Missouri. Volunteers provided the woman with a comfort kit, with personal hygiene items such as toothpaste, shampoo and soap. The Red Cross is also aiding the woman with vouchers for clothing. She will be staying with family or friends for the night. The woman was not at home at the time of the fire. Her husband died in the blaze.
Volunteers are also providing comfort and nourishment to the emergency workers from Lake St. Louis, New Melle, O’Fallon and Wentzville who responded to the blaze. All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.
