FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, IL (Thursday, November 28, 2002) – American Red Cross disaster volunteers in the Metro East are assisting families affected by a late night fire in Smithton, Illinois. Four families were affected by the blaze; one of which was not home at the time of the fire. The Red Cross has verified that the families have family or friends to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with and will provide assistance for food, clothing and shelter and other immediate needs stemming from the fire for the families.
All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by the voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.
