ST. LOUIS (June 24, 2002) – American Red Cross disaster volunteers today responded to a commercial fire on Camp Jackson Road in Cahokia, providing drinks and snacks to firefighters from eight surrounding fire districts.
Two Red Cross Disaster Action Teams (DAT) responded to the blaze early this morning while it was still dark. The Red Cross provided comfort and nourishment to the estimated 50 emergency responders from Northwest, Villa Hills, Signal Hill and Swansea. Disaster volunteers will also be helping residents of the apartment fire with immediate needs of food, clothing and shelter.
