| Red Cross Announces CPR/First Aid Training Schedule for St. Charles County Residents

ST. CHARLES, MO (Tuesday, July 9, 2002) – The American Red Cross today announced its health and safety training schedule for St. Charles County residents. Classes will be held at the St. Charles County Service Center, 516 S. Fifth St., unless otherwise noted.
First Aid and Adult CPR with AED training • Saturday, July 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (This class will be held at the Central County Fire Dept. in St. Peters). • Thursday, July 25 from 8:30a.m. to 4:00 p.m. • Saturday, August 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. • Thursday, August 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. • Saturday, September 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (This class will be held at the Central County Fire Dept. in St. Peters). • Thursday, September 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

First Aid and Adult CPR with AED Training is a newly released course, which represents the next generation of CPR and first aid training. It includes the use of community access automated external defibrillators (AED’s), that are recommended as part of Adult CPR training by the Emergency Cardiac Care Committee. First Aid and Adult CPR prepares individuals with the knowledge and skills to recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest, until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. No prerequisite required. Cost for the 6-½ hour course is $46 Adult, Infant, and Child CPR is a comprehensive course that teaches the proper techniques to help adults (9 years of age & older), children (1-8 years) and infant (under 1 year) victims of choking, cardiac arrest and respiratory emergencies. The class also identifies early warning signs of heart attack and stroke. Those who participate in this class can earn an American Red Cross Community CPR certificate valid for one year. No prerequisite classes are required. Cost for the 6 ½ hour course is $39. Please note: Some courses are split over a two-day period. You must attend both days. Part 1 of course is denoted by (*). Part II of the course is denoted by (**). Babysitting prepares youth with the training and skills to care for infants and school age children. The class combines video, activities, hands-on skill training and discussion for a complete learning experience. Prerequisite: Participants must be at least 11 years old. Cost is $25 for the 8-hour course. Please note: Participants will be given a lunch break and should bring a sack lunch to the class. Infant and Child CPR is a course, ideal for parents, grandparents and child care providers, will teach you how to help infant (under 1 year old) and child (1-8 years) victims of choking, cardiac arrest and respiratory emergencies. Learn not only how to react to life-threatening emergencies, but also how to prevent them. Students can earn an infant/child CPR certificate valid for one year. Cost of the 5 ½ hour class is $28.
