St. Louis, Tuesday, April 25, 2006 – The American Red Cross Scott Air Force Base Service Center recently honored volunteers during a recognition luncheon. Special guests at the ceremony included Col. Raymond Rottman, 375th Airlift Wing Commander; Col. Halifax King, 375th Medical Group Deputy Commander; and Nancy Bates, Executive Officer of Emergency Services for the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter.
Award Recipients:
The Blood Services Award is given to a volunteer who exemplifies a commitment to strengthen or improve our local blood supply through their dedicated efforts.
- Erica Rice (Scott Air Force Base, IL) has volunteered more than 40 hours to assist with blood drives at Scott Air Force Base. Erica assists in setting up the blood drive facilities, greets donors at the sign-in table, and assists individuals after they donate. Erica is also a regular blood donor.
The Honor Award recognizes an individual for continued volunteer commitment, performance and impact in the community.
- Lauren Brethauer (Belleville, IL) volunteers over 25 hours every week to the Belleville Family Medicine Residency Program. Lauren prepares the faculty schedule, helping to facilitate an additional 384 patient visits. Lauren’s attention to detail and effective communication in interacting with 42 residents and 15 faculty physicians has been an asset in the training of Air Force physicians and in the care of over 6,000 military and civilian patients.
- Francoise Calvin (Fairview Heights, IL) volunteers for the Belleville Family Health Center Clinic and brings 26 years of volunteer work and 46 years of nursing experience to her important duties. Francoise coordinates important follow-up care and supports the clinic’s overall operation, interacting with 10 physicians, numerous support staff and patients.
- Lindsay Pickens (St. Louis, MO) is a 19-year volunteer for the 375th Medical Information Services Flight and dedicates hours to developing and implementing databases for use throughout the Medical Group.
