 Media Advisory: WHAT: The American Red Cross Jefferson County Service Center will host its annual Volunteer Recognition Picnic to honor local volunteers for their service to the organization and the community. The following awards will be presented at the Volunteer Picnic (detailed information for each award recipient will be provided at Saturday’s event):
• Honorary Service Award – in recognition of continued outstanding volunteer commitment. • Volunteer of the Year Award – honors the volunteer with the single most profound impact on Red Cross programs and services over the previous year.
WHEN: Saturday, August 20 – 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Volunteers will be available for interviews at the conclusion of the awards ceremony.)
WHERE: Turner Camp – 1600 Turner Camp Road – Imperial, MO (Upon arrival at the camp, please follow Red Cross signs to the Volunteer Picnic.)
WHY: The American Red Cross is an organization led by the service of its volunteers. Last year, because of the dedication of thousands of volunteers throughout the metropolitan area, the St. Louis Area Chapter was able to touch the community more than 397,000 times.
The annual Volunteer Recognition Picnic is a unique opportunity to focus on the impact that local Red Cross volunteers have on the Jefferson County region, while honoring these citizens for giving freely of their time and energy.
