Gift includes $10,000 in funding for Community Disaster Education and $10,000 in product for disaster victims
St. Louis, Tuesday, May 15, 2007 - The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter is the recipient of a $20,000 gift from Energizer in support of disaster preparedness and emergency response. The mission of the Red Cross is to provide relief to victims of disasters and to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Energizer's donation to the St. Louis Area Chapter directly supports this lifesaving mission by providing $10,000 in funding for Community Disaster Education presentations and an additional $10,000 in product for response to local emergencies.
The St. Louis Area Chapter relies on generous corporate partners like Energizer to provide free education to local individuals, schools, businesses and community groups. Last year, the St. Louis Area Chapter educated more than 72,000 people regarding the importance of disaster supply kits, emergency plans, and getting informed through lifesaving training in CPR and First Aid. In addition to the funding for this important community outreach, Energizer's product gift provides Energizer® Energi To Go® instant cell phone chargers, Weather Ready®
flashlights and batteries to help local people during emergency situations. The gifts are donated as part of the company's "Plan. Prepare. Protect. ®" emergency preparedness program.
"The American Red Cross is here to help our community - both before and after an emergency situation," said Joseph C. White, Chief Executive Officer of the St. Louis Area Chapter. "Energizer is a great friend to the American Red Cross and this important contribution demonstrates their corporate commitment to making a difference in the lives of our fellow citizens when they need it most."
