Fund enables the Red Cross to respond to more than 70,000 disasters nationwide each year
St. Louis, Friday, August 3, 2007 -
KTRS Radio (550 AM) will auction sports memorabilia and tickets from the St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams live on the air throughout the day on Friday. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, which enables nearly 800 chapters across the country to respond to more than 70,000 disasters each year.
"We greatly appreciate the generosity of KTRS, the Blues, the Cardinals and the Rams," said Joseph C. White, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter.
"This week's tragic bridge collapse in Minneapolis is the most recent reminder of the need for us to be ready to respond before a disaster ever happens - at any time throughout this country. The Disaster Relief Fund allows the Red Cross to be there whenever and wherever we are called upon."
