
Shelters will open at 1:00 p.m. in St. Louis City, North St. Louis County and Belleville, IL
St. Louis, Friday, December 1, 2006 - In response to widespread power outages resulting from a severe winter storm, the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter is opening three emergency shelters to provide a safe place for residents to seek 24-hour refuge from the cold temperatures. Each full-service location will open at 1:00 p.m. and provide for emergency needs including food, shelter and health services. As assessment continues, additional locations for shelters are under evaluation, with more details to be provided as they are available.
Red Cross emergency shelters will remain open 24/7 as long as they are needed, and the locations include:
St. Louis City -
North St. Louis County -
Metro East -
