 Company recognized for training employees in First Aid and CPR and placing AEDs onsite
St. Louis, Friday, October 5, 2007 - The American Red Cross presented its Lifesaver Community Award to Bryan Cave, LLP on Friday afternoon for training its employees in First Aid and CPR on a regular basis and for placing emergency equipment onsite throughout its facilities. To celebrate Bryan Cave's outstanding commitment to helping its employees and the greater community prevent, prepare and respond to emergencies, a Red Cross Celebration Team took part in today's onsite recognition event.
"For 20 years, Bryan Cave has faithfully prepared its employees to respond during times of emergency by providing lifesaving training in First Aid and CPR," said Joseph C. White, chief executive officer for the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter. "In addition, Bryan Cave has partnered with the Red Cross to place emergency equipment onsite, further demonstrating its commitment to emergency preparedness. We commend their efforts and encourage others in the community to follow Bryan Cave's example."
The Lifesaver Community Award is designed to honor corporations, municipalities and civic organizations for contributing to a safer community environment. Award criteria includes utilizing Red Cross health and safety training for at least three years, training employees in CPR and First Aid on a regular basis, placing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) onsite, and conducting regular Red Cross blood drives.
Details regarding Bryan Cave's preparedness efforts include the following:

Began utilizing Red Cross training in CPR and First Aid 20 years ago to prepare employees for emergencies.

Added training in Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in 2001.

Became one of the first community partners to implement Blended Learning - training that allows participants to complete studying and pre-testing online at their own pace before demonstrating skills to a certified instructor to achieve certification.

Purchased three AEDs since 2000 and placed them onsite throughout its facilities.

Stocked up on emergency supplies, including supplemental oxygen, breathing barriers and first aid kits to create a safer environment for its employees and clients.
About the Red Cross Lifesaver Program:
The Lifesaver Award Program, sponsored by AAA, is designed to inspire others to get trained in First Aid and CPR by recognizing local citizens for preparing themselves to respond in an emergency situation. Last year, the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter trained more than 85,000 local residents in CPR and First Aid, including more than 15,000 in the use of AEDs. Since its inception in 1984, the Red Cross Lifesaver Program has honored more than 325 St. Louis heroes. The program supports the Red Cross mission to help our communities prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters and emergencies. In 2007, the St. Louis Area Chapter expanded the Lifesaver Award Program to include the Lifesaver Community Awards.
