American Red Cross Hosts Leadership Development Camp for Youth Volunteers
Nineteen Red Cross youth volunteers from the St. Louis metropolitan area recently attended a three-day Leadership Development Camp sponsored by the St. Louis Area Chapter. These youth are active members of Red Cross YouthCorps, contribute to at least one community service project and Red Cross teaching opportunity each year, and are certified in CPR, First Aid and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). |

Mound City Medical Forum Donates $1,000 to American Red Cross Measles Initiative
Approximately 1,000 children in Africa will receive measles vaccinations because of a recent $1,000 donation from the Mound City Medical Forum to the American Red Cross Measles Initiative. Measles is the leading cause of death among children in Africa. In December 2001, the American Red Cross and other partners launched the Measles Initiative, focusing on providing vaccinations to African children. Each vaccine costs less than one dollar. |

American Red Cross Invites Lifeguard Teams to Participate in 10th Annual Lifeguard Competition
The St. Louis Area Chapter is seeking Missouri and Illinois lifeguard teams for its 10th Annual Lifeguard Competition on July 23 at Queeny Park from 7:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Teams will have the opportunity to demonstrate and enhance their lifesaving skills through a series of scenario-based testing exercises, including first aid, the rescue of passive and active victims, and the appropriate management of spinal injuries. |

The American National Red Cross in Washington, D.C. has announced that Joseph C. White, CEO of the St. Louis Area Chapter, has been selected to serve a three-year term on its Presidential Advisory Council (PAC). The PAC is comprised of not more than 16 field executives from more than 800 chapters nationwide, representing the geographic diversity of America. Members provide feedback to the President and CEO of the American National Red Cross regarding opportunities facing the organization. |

American Red Cross Opens Three Emergency Shelters as Heat Wave and Power Outages Continue
With the support of community partners, the St. Louis Area Chapter opened three emergency shelters at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 20 to provide relief from the heat as extreme temperatures and widespread power outages continue throughout the metropolitan area. In addition, the Red Cross will continue to support area cooling sites operated by the United Way's Operation Weather Survival by providing cold beverages as needed. |

Anheuser-Busch Provides Support to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Relief
Anheuser-Busch Companies and its charitable foundation have been long-time supporters of the American Red Cross, and most recently have made significant contributions to the ongoing hurricane relief efforts. Nationally, in preparation for the 2005 Hurricane Season, the company pre-positioned canned drinking water, which was immediately accessible for the Red Cross response to Hurricanes Dennis and Emily. In the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Anheuser-Busch donated 6.7 million cans of fresh drinking water for distribution by the Red Cross and other relief agencies throughout the affected regions. |
