A Century of Excellence
For the past 100 years, the American Red Cross has been empowering individuals with the skills they need to help save a life in an emergency situation. Whether it’s saving a drowning victim, performing CPR on someone in cardiac arrest, or caring for a wounded individual or pet by administering first aid, the Red Cross has taught millions of people these lifesaving skills over the past century.
First Aid courses have come a long way since 1911 when some of the first classes were presented to people through railroad car. By 1930, First Aid stations were being established at gas stations as a way to care for injured motorists through the First Aid on the Highway Program. Fast forward to 1970 and OSHA identified American Red Cross Multimedia Standard First Aid as the standard for First Aid training. By 2007, the American Red Cross released First Aid and CPR for Everyone, an at-home introduction to First Aid and CPR.
You never know when an injury or medical emergency will occur to someone in your family, to a co-worker, or to a complete stranger. Would you know how to help? Through just a few hours of training, you can learn to be ready to help in an emergency. The Red Cross offers a wide array of educational programs that teach lifesaving skills in First Aid and CPR, water safety and lifeguarding, HIV/Aids information, babysitter’s training, pet first aid, and much more. So sign up today and be a part of the next Century of Excellence!
